Working out the cost of residential care (you should receive financial advice by this point)
Moving into residential care and settling in
The ACAT team may suggest some appropriate aged-care facilities in the neighbourhood
once the resident has been assessed, however ACAT teams do not generally help with placement. The family is responsible for finding and arranging aged care accommodation.
MyAgedCare.gov is a Commonwealth Government website that is an excellent resource. It allows you to search for aged-care facilities in your area.
Once a loved one has had an ACAT assessment, it often then thrusts the family into a very stressful process. Aged care is not just a medical issue, but a complex financial event that challenges families to calculate the true costs of aged care options and how to fund accommodation bonds and nursing home fees.
The good news is that help is available. Our team will develop a financial plan that quickly helps you identify what aged care facilities you can afford, and the best way to structure the payment. For more information, give us a call at (07) 3229 0023.
